Welcome to another blog that is most likely going to have the theme of Wah Wah Wah, Why Not Me? Life's Not Fair!
Deal with it.
Just like millions of other people all over the world, I am very attached to my precious social media websites. In fact, being connected to social media is one of my favorite things in life. I really just love being connected to millions of people everywhere, even if I don't personally know them. I just find it fascinating and cool. Along with finding social media outlets fascinating, I am also envious of many people that are on these social media sites. For today I'm mainly going to focus on the popular people: The celebrities (and I don't just mean actual A-list celebs).
First I will talk about the seriously popular people such as singers, actors and actresses. All of these people know how important it is to keep up with their fan base so they stay popular which is why all of these social media sites such as Twitter, Foursquare, Facebook, etc., are so popular. Not just because people want to copy the celebs and join just because its the cool thing to do. But because its some of the easiest ways to connect with fans and keep them interested. Of course everyone wants to know what Lindsay Lohan had for breakfast this morning. In fact I love her more for that very reason. (Not really but I assume you get my point).
But Hollywood celebs are not the only people using these websites to stay in touch with their fan base. That's because they're not the only ones out there with a fan base. I'm talking about YouTube stars.
I am currently subscribed to almost 100 "famous" YouTube celebs and all of them have a fan base of over 100,000 people. AT LEAST. That is just so crazy to me (in a I'm-totally-fascinated-this-is-so-cool kind of way). But because they are so watched and loved, they too have Twitter, Facebook, and many other social media accounts so that they can stay up to date with their fans and let them know where they're going, what they're doing, and when the new videos are posted. And of course us, as their fans, LOVE IT!
But today's blog is not a lesson on how to have a fan base when you're famous. Because obviously...I am the farthest thing from fame. However one thing I will say about these famous peoples' networks is that I am jealous.
I am not just jealous of their fame, although it would be really awesome to be in some kind of lime-light, but I am jealous of how fame has made their lives busy and fulfilling (at least from the outside looking in).
You can tell by how often people post, the content of their posts, and of course following their careers, how busy and popular they are. Keeping tabs on peoples lives makes me realize how much I wish my life was busy and fulfilled with activities and projects that I really cared about and was passionate about.
I was reminiscing with my friend Ellie today about how I can only compare that same kind of busy, happy lifestyle to that of when we were in college. I know you all remember those days. I loved college because of many reasons (the obvious being it was fun, I drank a lot with my friends, and had a blast) but a large part of it was that I had a constant schedule keeping me busy.
I didn't really have a ton of time on my hands to be hanging around doing nothing. I was always going to classes, or meeting up with friends, or planning Rush parties, or doing projects. It was busy, sometimes tiring, but ultimately it was fun. I really miss those days.
Now my days are spent waking up early, getting ready for work, driving to work, sitting in an office doing work, driving home, eating dinner, and crashing on the couch. Its lame, not fulfilling, and I don't feel happy about the work I do or the schedule I have. I get excited for the weekends when I have a lot of plans with my friends and I don't sleep and I'm constantly on the move. I love that.
The people I follow on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, etc., they are always posting things saying "Filming my video today!", or "Having a photo-shoot this morning!". It's things like that, that make me jealous. Not specifically for those types of daily activities, but because they're clearly excited for the days activity or project. I want to be excited for what my day will entail. I want to be able to post things to the world on Twitter and have them actually be interesting things to say. Not that I just ate egg salad on a bagel. (Although it was delicious).
I'm not saying that I wish for fame, even though of course that would be really fun. I just wish that I could figure out how to get out of this bubble I'm stuck in and get even a tiny taste of a busy but fun lifestyle.
::Sigh:: Maybe one day.

To eat healthy, or not eat healthy....
OK readers, don't get too frazzled or weirded out by the headline. Because lets be honest, for those of you that know me, knows that I love food more than life and more specifically I wish I could eat junk food everyday and stay healthy as an Ox and never get fat. Too bad dreams aren't reality :)
Any-who, what I really want to talk about today is based on an article I read that talks about a combination of my two favorite things: Food and the Movies!
The article discusses how the chairman of Sony Pictures is trying to enforce healthier food options in movie theaters. I give the guy a lot of credit because we live in the fattest country ever and the movies have become one of the few places where its socially acceptable to just shove piles of food into your mouth all at once. And no one cares. I kind of love that fact. Especially because its dark and everyone has the movie to be pre-occupied with so no one is really looking around watching people shove mass amounts of junk food into their mouths like human garbage disposals. (And if you are watching...seriously? stop being creepy).
So the article discusses how it would be great if there could be healthier options such as veggie sticks with low-fat dressing to dip in. Or fruit options. The Sony chairman seems to think that if there are healthier options available, that people would be likely to pick them. However I'm not so sure I agree.
It's true that although we are the fattest country, we also seem to be really gung-ho about staying in shape. There are so many get-healthy and fit gimmicks out there that its weird how people are still so heavy.
For now though, its definitely going to be a while before anyone sees anything resembling vegetables pr fruit in their local movie theater establishments. One step that movie theaters are taking, being enforced by the Sony chairman, is the calorie counts of all snack foods being visible on the menu boards, in the hopes that people realize how fattening the food is and hopefully pick the healthier options.
I don't know about anyone else, but seeing those calorie counts on stuff in restaurants only shocks me for like a minute...and then I still get whatever food I was going to get anyway. Woops. One thing that did gross me out though was the little factoid (which can be found in the article) that states how a large buttered popcorn has the calorie equivalent of 6 Mcdonalds hamburgers. EW. How nasty is that! I'm shuddering a little.
So there you have it folks. The future of movie snacks is on the way! If you want to read the full article you can click right here and read it for yourselves.
Now I don't want everyone to get too nervous. I seriously doubt that anything remotely healthy will be in local theaters any time soon. Like the article mentions, popcorn, soda and the movies have been a threesome for a ridiculously long time. And like I mentioned before, we are the fattest country around. Those two factors combined means that everyone can continue shoving their beloved popcorn in mass amounts into their faces in peace. Enjoy!

Movie Time! She's Out of My League...kind of
So another part of my new whole "new ventures" attitude is writing and talking about something I love very much: MOVIES. And when I say I love movies, what I really mean is I am highly obsessed with them. I love everything about them. The stories, the plots, the characters, the feelings, the emotions, the bloopers, EVERYTHING. Therefore I am going to try to start critiquing the movies that I see. Starting with yesterdays feature: She's Out of My League.
(Warning: if you have not seen this movie then I suggest you stop reading because I am holding nothing back regarding what happens in this movie. Therefore if you continue reading, you are hereby not allowed to blame me for ruining the ending for you. Neener Neener Neener)
The Cast: I'm not going to lie, this was a weird cast, except it all seemed to work really well together. Every character was quirky in their own way, with really great lines and some were noobs that were very enjoyable to watch. So we had (and I'm really only going to mention the big ones here. You can IMDB the rest yourself): Jay Baruchel, Alice Eve, T.J. Miller, Lindsay Sloane, Krysten Ritter.
Ok I just want to say that as if I didn't already love Jay Baruchel from his few but hilarious lines in Knocked Up, he was even funnier and more adorable in this movie. I'm not saying hysterical (although the man snorting up a hysterics storm in front of me thought so) but very cute and very very funny. Alice Eve, whom I have never seen before this movie was very pretty and very sweet. Kind of a shame though that that's all she really got to do in this movie. Be really pretty, and really sweet, and that's about it. Not even Lindsay Sloane had that many funny lines, although it was very enjoyable to watch her be anything except the annoying and pathetic best friend from Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Yup in case anyone forgot about her (and I wouldn't blame you if you did) Lindsay used to play the ever annoying, and seriously pathetic Valerie on those awesome TGIF night lineups.
Ok now the battle for funniest character is sort of a tie. I would include Nate Torrence in this except that his character really wasn't that important. However he does deserve an honorable mention for his greatly placed Disney references. And I'm not just saying that because I love everything about Disney. Those lines were just too funny.
Ok so back to the Battle Royale for funniest character. This is a fight between T.J. Miller and Krysten Ritter. I have never seen T.J. before in anything, but I have seen Krysten. She has never been this funny. And I don't know what the hell T.J. was doing before this because he was HYSTERICAL. I really love when lines in movies are still funny even though they were in the previews. Watching these two characters meet for the first time and instantly hate each other was great, and made even better when T.J. delivers, one of the best lines in the movie I think, "Who brought the Good New Bear? Someone get her some FUCKING honey". Loves it.
The Plot: So if you didnt already know what this movie was about...I am assuming you do not watch TV, see movies, or live in life. Basically the skinny nerdy guy with no life ambition (kind of interesting considering the skinny nerd is usually really smart and has a plan. Apparently not Jay Baruchel's character) meets Molly, who is the woman of his dreams. Blah, Blah Blah, they meet, they hit it off, she keeps asking him out, they start to date. Enter loser best friends (except for the one hot loser who has almost no lines...sad) who basically tell Jay's character what to do in every single situation, and since he looks like a 12 year old, and has the balls of a 12 year old, he listens to them. After one too many breakup-makeups (minus the sex) adorable yet dorky Kirk (Jay's character) realizes that he IS good enough for hot Molly and they end up together! Yay!
The Real Deal: So I realize towards the end of the last section that it would appear that I didn't really like this movie. That is not true. There are a LOT of really funny yet subtle scenes that I will not share with you. Partially because I want you to go see it for yourself and partially because I cant remember every single one well enough to relay it back. But overall I would say this movie is cute, has some nice eye candy (guys and girls), and some really hilarious witty lines that will definitely leave you laughing and wanting more. And if nothing else, you will get some gross-out entertainment reminiscent of the American Pie movies involving "shooting off" too early, meeting the parents, and a large dog. All I'm going to say.

New Ventures
So Lately I've been reading a book that was recommended to me by a friend from work entitled "What Should I Do With My Life?"...kind of appropriate right?
The book is by author Po Bronson and is basically about how Po went all over the country speaking with people about how they discovered what to do with their lives, and he helps to retell their stories. Some of the stories are really touching and somewhat relate-able, others are hard to connect with because they seem so far from where I am right now.
However the more stories I read, the more inspired I become. One of the most important themes that I'm finding within all the stories, is to play to your strengths and do what you are good at slash what makes you happy. And I know about doing what makes you happy, not completely from experience, but from writing so much about it on here :)
Therefore, lately I've really been trying, slowly but surely, to play to my strengths in life, and try to do what makes me happy.
One of those things that makes me really happy is YouTube. I know, I know, my dream of YouTube stardom was kind of far-fetched last summer. And I agree that it was kind of silly for me to think that I would gain popularity for just recording my life. Not so much. However now that I have my pretty new MacBook Pro (!!!), I am starting the (slow) process of trying to make actual videos for my channel. And I am REALLY excited. Ideas keep coming to me for videos and spoofs I want to make. I am totally loving it. Not to mention it would feel amazing to actually complete a project which I haven't done in the longest time. I want to feel good and happy again about what I'm doing not just WITH my life but IN my life.
So this blog really was not to promote myself on YouTube (at least not yet). The point was to say that from now on I will be venturing out and concentrating on doing things that, although others may not find enjoyable, I do. And when it comes down to it, you really just need to do what makes you happy. Thanks Internet :)

So much for THAT.....
Whats up blog readers? (if there are any....) So remember in my last post how I talked about doing something new every week or so and then I would blog about it in the hopes of trying to shape my very empty future?
Yea as you can tell by my recent posts (0) that that didn't exactly happen. Sometimes I wish I could be more proactive instead of just being a lot of talk and not so much action. It's pretty crappy of me. Sorry :(
In an attempt to make it up to the very few of you that are actually reading this, I thought I would just....write another blog...WHO'S EXCITED?!?!
Today's blog is about one of MY favorite bloggers: The one and only Perez Hilton.
I, along with millions of other people, visit Perez's fantabulous website everyday (multiple times a day to be exact) to read all the funny gossip he has on celebrities. There is however one thing that reaaaaaaally bugs the crap out of me and its something that occurs WAY too often on Perez's lovely website: SPELLING AND GRAMMAR MISTAKES.
What.the.Eff.Perez.
Since Perez has become kind of a household name and his website gets millions of hits per day (and because on his website the words "we" and "us" and "the Perez family" are written often) I am under the assumption that since he has become famous, there have been more people added to help contribute to the Perez Hilton website. That being said...who the hell is running things over there? Do those people not read? Because frankly I am embarrassed for them when there are constant spelling and grammar mistakes!
I understand that their goal is probably to get the most gossip they can up and running on their website as fast as they can so people who constantly keep coming back to the site have something new to read. That is totally fine. But if you are going to be doing this all day everyday, and you KNOW that people all over the world are going to be reading it, then wouldn't you want to make sure that you are putting the best product you can out there?
Not to mention the fact that most of the posts that go up there are really short. Why is no one editing the content over there? DRIVES ME CRAZY!!
Because this is a really big issue for me, I have decided, starting this past Monday, that everyday, at least once a day, when I find a spelling/grammar mistake, I email it back to Perez and notify him of these stupid mistakes. I'm hoping that someone over there is reading all of my obnoxious and annoying emails and maybe, just maybe, they can be corrected.
This is my new little side project, so we shall see how it goes!
Does spelling and grammar mistakes bother anyone else? Are there blogs that you read that you wish were run better? Let me know!
For now I'm just going to bother Perez about his :) See ya next time my few and fearless readers!
